Online City Directories

There is a new web site compiled by Miriam Robbins Midkiff which links to many Online Historical Directories

There are links to online city directories for the United States, Canada, Ireland and the United Kingdom. The links include both free sites and subscription database websites.

It is not yet a complete listing, but a great start. For Washington D.C. this site links to the directories at Footnote.com but not the ones at Ancestry.com.
